We had great pleasure in hosting the charity fishing day on Wednesday, 12th October for the MTSFC (Masonic Trout & Salmon Fishing Charity) - pictures below.

Sections of their Newsletter read as follows from their Oxfordshire Event Organiser, Mr John Stanley,

"What a great day we all had at Milton Pools and what a super end to our sixth year of running these charity events locally! This was our third and final event of 2011 and all credit must go to Val & Ray Green, who own and run the fishery." "Ray mentioned that the fishery has "on site" catering facilities and that they would be happy to do the catering." "We were allocated Campbell's Match Lake, which is normally reserved for private matches. The fishermen placed their tackle out around the lake and anticipated the day's prospects. According to the brochure, "it contained several varieties of Carp, Bream, Golden Rudd, Tench, Koi, Roach, Chub and Gold Fish"!"

The guests arrived from Bicester Community College, Cherwell School & Meadowbrook College and were allocated a fishing partner.

"All manner of tackle came into play, from simple tackle set-ups (those I remember from my youth) to 15m carbon fibre poles (and I though fly rods were expensive). Using a variety of bait I think by lunchtime most of the above species had been landed and in good numbers; in fact some were reluctant to stop for food as the fishing was so good and couldn't wait to get back fishing afterwards. From their positive experience at Milton Pools I know that we have some young people who will definitely become anglers in time."

"It was an ideal day for fishing, remaining overcast all day, the predicted bad weather didn't materialise, the young guests and their teachers thanked us for a great day and everyone went home happy. The subsequent follow up e mails expressed their eagerness to come again next year!

Fishing from Peg 3 on the Specimen Lake on the 20th October, Craig Pearce caught this 27lbs Common Carp

Chris Ellis fishing with his son David on the House Lake on Peg 3, caught this 19.8, 18.5 & 16.2 lbs carp and David caught a 9.3 (which was his pb) and a 7 lbs - fishing for just 36 hours from am on the 22nd October, they caught between them 85!!

Jack Cork aged 10, fishing with his dad and grampy on Pegs 3, 4 & 5 on the Specimen Lake, caught this lovely 18 lbs Ghost Carp on the 1st October

Just a few fish caught on camera by our Bailliff Mark Lewin. The first three photos are of Mark Lewin, his wife Trudie and their beautiful daughter Sophie, who caught her very first carp, a real family event.

Others are Colin Morris; David Ellis with a Crucian; David's dad Chris Ellis; Ash with two carp, one being 14 lbs; Alex; Scott; Jim & Barry.

Colin Morris on another fishing trip at the beginning of June caught Common Carp weighing in at 25 lbs, 20.9 lbs, 19lbs and 16.14 lbs and Mirror Carp weighing in at 23 lbs, 21 lbs, 17.9 lbs and 17.6 lbs

Colin Morris fishing Peg 4 on the Specimen lake for a 24 hour fish on 17th/18th March. 2011, caught a 24.13 lbs Mirror, a 14lbs and 18lbs Common and a 19lbs Mirror

Mr. Farrell fishing from 17th January - 20th January on the Pegs 1 & 3 on the Specimen Lake. Ray caught 3 carp ranging from 15 - 21.5 lbs and a 7 lbs pike and Mike caught a 15 lbs cap and an 8 lbs pike - very good considering the freezing weather conditions
